DangPony! Network FAQ
F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)
This section was developed to help with a few of the most anticipated questions. This section will be expanded as needed.
Question:
Why would I need a public AND private page? And why would I want to make my friends public, private or even secret?
Answer:
I don’t know. And frankly I don’t want to know. You keep your business to yourself… Oh wait, maybe that’s the point… The reason for the site is so that you can KEEP YOUR BUSINESS TO YOURSELF. (And your friends of course.)
But seriously, now a days employers and others look to major networking sites to get the "dirt" on prospective employees or whatever. Besides I find most of us tend to have at least two sides and this is a good way to express that duality.

Question:
I signed up... Now what?
Answer:
A) Enter the information you want to share (don't worry if you can't see it on your profile just yet). This can be done through the links "Basic Account & Bio Info" & "Attitudes & Beliefs" in the main control panel.
B) Upload your picture through the "Upload Media Files" link on the home page (Network Control Panel) once this is done you will be sent to an area set up for media management. Click by that picture "Edit File Info" and then check the checkbox that says "Set as main image". Now you have a profile image for your public and private page.
C) Once you've entered your info and uploaded your image you can build your public and private pages. This is done through the "Profile Layout Builder" link on the home page. In the Profile Layout Builder you simply tell the system which of your information you want to include in ether of your profiles and hit submit. You will then be asked to select which profile to apply these setting to (Select Public or Private).
D) Now all you have to do is change the way your page looks. To do this there are two useful tools: the Profile Style Designer and the Style Library. Links to the Profile Style Designer and the Style Library can be found in the home page once you are logged in. Both these tools are very easy to use and you should be able to figure them out in no time.
E) You’re pretty much done. You can do other things from this point like add one of your songs to play on your page of import YouTube videos or basically anything else.

Question:
What is the difference between my public and private page?
Answer:
The main difference between your public profile page and your private page is access. That is to say, anyone can see your public page but only friends can see information posted to your private page.
Your public page also determines how you can be searched or browsed. If you have your public page set so that your gender is viewable that information will be available to people browsing under that gender. However if you have selected your gender be hidden on your public page people will not find you when browsing your gender. The basic rule is, if it can be seen on your public page it can be used in a search or browsed.

Question:
How do I change the way my profiles look?
Answer:
There are two main things that make a profile look a certain way.
1) What information or sections are included in the profile.
2) The style code that is applied to the page.
The information that can be included in profile pages are things like age, gender, income, location and so on. The sections that can be included are things like your pictures, tagz, bio or friends. Needless to say the more information you have the more interesting your page will look. But remember you may not want to include everything on your public page. All this can be manged through your Profile Layout Builder.
Your style is done through the use of CSS code. There are a few tools that have been developed to help you change your page’s style code. These can be found in the Style Library or the Profile Style Designer. Both these methods are very easy and designed for beginner.
If you are a more advanced style designer and you really want to tweek your page there is even a CSS window to help.

Question:
Why does this site look so ugly?
Answer:
You don’t like the way the site looks fine… change it. Once you log in you can go into your member preferences page and set it so the site follows your profile’s look. To do this look for the option that say "Make My Control Panel Style The Same As" and select either your public or private profiles. Once you’ve made this change the site will follow either your public or private profile style for any page that does not belong to another user. For example, when you go to the main blog page your style will follow you but when you go to read someone’s blog their style will take over. This make sense since you are in their blog.
